Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 14:31:41 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Tid bits and the Web. This is going to be a somewhat disorganized chronicle. I will start by spewing forth some tidbits: When I was in Germany visiting Arthur, his "guest brother" showed me a tattoo on his shoulder. Now normally I'm not very interested in tattoos, but he explained to me that it was a "bio-tattoo" and that it will only last for 2 or 3 years. Sure makes having your S.O.'s name tattooed on your arm safer. Word for the day: eruct. Does anyone know what silver, orange and month have in common? If you know, write and tell me. (I know, but it's my new contest :) Here's an interesting tid bit. As many of you know, I have letters on my socks so that I can keep the pairs together. Anyway, Misha has told me that she was watching Rosie O'Donnel the other day and she had Richard Simmons (fitness guru, not Kiss member) as a guest and it turns out he numbers his socks too. I wonder if he was doing it before I was or if he stole the idea from me. A while back I was at the store and I saw Monopoly on the shelf. I took a look at it and quickly noticed that it was all wrong. It is Swiss Monopoly, although nowhere on the box does it suggest that there is any other sort. Besides being in French, all the properties are Swiss. Boardwalk and Park Place are Zurich Paradeplatz and Lausanne Place St. Francais. And if that isn't insulting enough, the prices are all wrong. You get 4000 francs for passing go and Zurich Paradeplatz is 8000 francs instead of $400. I suppose I could probably still play it, which is more that I could say for the Swiss version of Trivial Pursuit they had. Okay, enough tid bits, now to the meat of this letter. After a month and a half of working on it, my new and improved web page is ready for viewing. But hang on, don't go rushing off to check it out quite yet. First of all, it's moved. I outgrew the confines of a single web page, and infact outgrew being on someone else's domain. Thus, I have bought my own domain for my new web site. So you can find my new home at http://gimpnet.com so for anyone out there using Netscape all you need to do is type gimpnet in for the location and Netscape will look after the rest. If you're wondering why it has taken me a over a month to create this site you should go check it out. There are over 130 images of various sorts, mostly hand drawn and all created by yours truly. In fact, every single thing on the site was made by me. The scripts and everything. I even wrote my own graphics routines from scratch for the counter (and the fractals). Anyway, go check it out. Hopefully you'll spend more than a few minutes there (especially considering how long it took me to make). Definitely don't miss the Aaron de Neuchatel and Aaroni da Frascati galleries or Gimp's Page O' Fun. There's a "forwarder" at the old site, so no need to change your links to my old page (like there was a lot of those :) Thanks again to Mediascape for their previous generosity. You may notice that all mail links at the site go to aarons@gimpnet.com but please don't bother to change your mail aliases because all the mail to gimpnet is forwarded to my UVic account anyway. If you find anything wrong, be it spelling mistakes or bad colour combinations, please don't hesitate to write and complain. Anyway, I have reset my guest counter: let's see who the first visitor is. Enjoy, Aaron de Neuchatel (aka Gimp)
