Subject: Off again...

Well, this is another quickie.  I'm back from Vienna but I'm leaving for
Rome tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately I have been pretty busy the last few days (i.e. since my
return from Vienna) making some very nice (and irrelevant) colour
transparencies for my informal talk at the collaboration meeting in
Frascati (just outside Rome) which takes place on Friday.  This means that
not only have I not had time to change the pictures on my web page but I
also have not had time to tell you about christmas with the grandchildren
or my trip to Vienna or for that matter the still outstanding "Doorknobs
and Windows" topic that I promised months ago.  Now, I'm going to have to
add "My trip to Italy" to the list which means I am getting further and
further behind.  Fortunately, this is not unfamiliar territory :)

I have to catch the 07:00 train tomorrow morning, which is way, way to
early considering I have been having trouble even getting out of bed
before 08:30.  I get to spend about 10 hours on the train (12+ hours of
travel), arriving in time to have dinner, chat a bit and go to bed.  Then
I get to go to a meeting on Friday morning.  I suppose Friday afternoon
and evening are free time with semi organized get-togethers, and then I
catch the train back at lunch time on Saturday for another 12+ hours of
travel.

I bet you're all dying to hear about the flood in the cafeteria today, but
it will have to wait till I get back.

I will probably be online while I'm there, so I will still be able to read
mail but don't expect quick answers.  Sorry to everyone to whom I already
owe a letter - I have not forgotten you: nothing leaves my inbox until it
is answered.
